Summer flavors in bold combinations to provide new experiences for consumers
The lightest, funniest and hottest season of the year is approaching and has a delicious potential to inspire launches and new foods and beverages in the Brazilian and Latin American market. Consumers' desire for new food experiences grows even more to face the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
And summer flavors naturally bring immense potential to
provide innovative sensations in combinations that can surprise.
The freshness of citruses, the color of tropical fruits and
the herbaceous and floral notes are among the flavors that stood out in the
product launches during the summer in the Northern Hemisphere, in countries in
Europe, Asia and North America and have everything to fall in with the taste of
the Brazilian consumer in the summer 2020-2021.
Combinations of citrus fruits such as lemon, orange and
tangerine; teas such as yerba mate , mint and lemon balm; florals such as rose
and chamomile; and spices , such as ginger and rosemary, have a rich potential
for creating bold, refreshing and surprising flavors in different beverage
categories, mainly.
Not to mention the fruity flavors of mango, guava and
grapefruit, for example, which are the trend of the season, as they refer to
the sun and heat due to their vibrant tones and summer flavours.
While citrus notes bring a refreshing effect to foods and
beverages, lavender and chamomile have become popular for their calming and
relaxing characteristics.
The most recent consumer movements are also being
contemplated by brands more attentive to desires, which take the opportunity
“to make lemons into lemonade”, combining attributes that are increasingly high
in preferences, such as functionality , naturalness and healthiness to their
collections with flavors of summer.
While citrus notes bring a refreshing effect to food and
beverages, chamomile has become popular for its calming and relaxing
characteristics.
According to a Mintel survey, during the pandemic, 51% of
Brazilians said they considered healthy eating a top priority and 63% of
respondents placed “ mental well-being ” in high priority . Likewise, interest
in products with ingredients that help boost the immune system grew : 82% of
Brazilian adults , according to Mintel, showed interest in vitamins, including
C, found abundantly in citrus fruits, in acerola .
Check out, below, examples presented by The World of Food
Ingredientes magazine , the Trend Hunter trend platform and the market
intelligence agency Mintel of products launched in the summer in Northern
Hemisphere countries and that can inspire the Brazilian industry in its news
for the most relaxed season of the year.
